Four days out from the China Horse Club enjoying heavy representative in Saturday’s AUD10 million Magic Millions Race Day, the club moved with purpose to ensure its members will be given every chance to play a lead role once again in 2019.
This weekend the club will be represented by no less than three contenders in the AUD2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic, numerically the strongest representation in the race, and members’ interests will also be carried by the second favourite in the AUD2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.
A total of six yearlings were secured in partnership on the opening day of trading. The sextet was signed in the hope that they can follow in the footsteps of Legislation, Bondi and Anthemoessa who will shoulder the club’s interest in the AUD2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic. As a group, the trio will bid to improve upon the eye-catching fifth last year from subsequent G1 winner Invader. On the same programme, the year older Sasso Corbaro will put her undefeated 2018 form on the line in the AUD2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas. The second favourite closed out her maiden preparation with a win at Newcastle last July and returned to racing this year as a more physically imposing individual. That development has been instrumental in her improvement which has seen her dominant fields with facile wins over 1100m and 1300m respectively in 2018.
“It is rewarding to see members so well represented in the Magic Millions races this year. All four performers are ready to go and hopefully they all have luck on the day,” said Michael Wallace, Head of Racing and Bloodstock for the China Horse Club.
“We have picked up some lovely individuals with partners like Newgate Farm and WinStar Farm today and, hopefully, in 12 months’ time we are seeing these performers replicating the yearlings we sourced in 2017. I have every faith that the yearlings we are sourcing right now will be given every chance to reach their full potential and when you see that our system has produced some exceptional performers headed by Russian Revolution and Invader, that is very exciting to consider.”
