China Horse Club is part of a syndicate that has secured a controlling interest in one of Australia’s hottest stallion prospects, star juvenile Artorius. The quality colt franked his credentials when winning last Saturday’s AUD1,500,000 G1 Blue Diamond Stakes at only his third career start and trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman are now zeroing in on next month’s AUD3,500,000 G1 Golden Slipper with Artorius.

“Artorius is an absolute pleasure to train. He is a genuine tough racehorse, everything you want to see in a future stallion. His victory in the Blue Diamond was very special and he is a colt that is doing everything as a two-year-old on raw ability. I have no doubt he will only improve as a three-year-old,” said co-trainer Anthony Freedman.

“Artorius is a colt with a booming finish and the ability to effortlessly reel them in in a matter of strides, which we saw in the Blue Diamond,” said co-trainer Sam Freedman.

20210226-1Flying Artie

Artorius is a first-crop son of exciting young sire Flying Artie who China Horse Club bought into during his racing career. Flying Artie stands alongside fellow China Horse Club partner stallions Russian Revolution, Deep Field, Extreme Choice, Cosmic Force, Winning Rupert at Newgate Farm.

“Artorius like his father, leading young season sire Flying Artie, is an outstanding racehorse. We are thrilled to have secured an interest in this gun colt and could not be more excited about his future,” said Newgate’s Henry Field.

“[Artorius] is a horse with a sensational genetic makeup and is a stunning individual with enormous class and quality.”

Artorius is the second Blue Diamond Stakes winner secured by a Newgate Farm managed syndicate, with a major interest in Extreme Choice purchased in 2016 after his Caulfield triumph and ahead of his Golden Slipper tilt. He is the third Blue Diamond Stakes winner China Horse Club has bought into, securing an interest in Pride of Dubai ahead of his G1 ATC Sires Produce Stakes triumph.

The maiden crop of juveniles of Extreme Choice, who was a G1 winning two-year-old and three-year-old, has made an immediate impact on the track with a series of impressive winners headed by boom colt Stay Inside who China Horse Club, Newgate Farm and partners bought into earlier this month.

Pride of Dubai was the leading first season sire last season and is currently Australia’s leading second season sire. Pride of Dubai has also sired a series of stakes winners in Europe from his first crop of runners.
