China Horse Club and its colt syndicate partners’ 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast purchases have produced an incredible three runners for Saturday’s AUD 2,000,000 Gold Coast Magic Millions 2yo Classic in Empire of Japan, Royal Entrance and Sovereign Fund.
One of the likely favorites, Empire of Japan, drew barrier 11 of 21 and top rider James McDonald has the call. Royal Entrance will exit barrier nine with Tim Clark aboard and Sovereign Fund is in barrier 17 with Jamie Kah at the controls.
On the back of that success, the China Horse Club, Newgate, Go Bloodstock and Trilogy led syndicate has been quite active at this year’s Gold Coast sale. They were the leading buyers through the close of the second session Wednesday, taking home eight colts for AUD$4.875 million. Those purchases were topped by an AUD$850,000 son of Capitalist.

China Horse Club was also a successful seller during the opening two sessions of the auction, selling under The Chase for the first time. Five homebred yearlings changed hands during the first two days, topped by an AUD$280,000 daughter of Deep Field, purchased by Ryan and Alexiou Racing. A daughter of the China Horse Club’s Russian Revolution brought AUD$250,000 and colt from the first crop of their young gun Cosmic Force summoned AUD$240,000.

There is still plenty to come on both the buying and selling end with three more days of Book 1 to go.
