At the close of trading at Tattersalls famed Book 1 Yearling Sale Qatar Racing, China Horse Club and David Howden had added three colts by some of Europe’s most accomplished stallions to its talent pool for 2024 and beyond.

The syndicate, formed to race and source elite stallion prospects in Europe, was patient in its approach over the three-day sale when netting a Kingman half-brother to boom group winning filly Ylang Ylang, a Night of Thunder colt out of stakes winner Persona Grata and a striking No Nay Never colt out of a half-sister to champion juvenile Chriselliam.

The trio join three other colts secured last month at the Goffs Orby Sale by Wootton Basset, Dark Angel and Sea The Stars and a Kitten’s Joy colt secured at Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale.

“China Horse Club has enjoyed a record yearling sales season this year off the back of long-term planning and investment,” said Matt Houldsworth, China Horse Club’s European Representative.

“And it is continuing to plan for the future by sourcing and racing a pool of colts with Qatar Racing and David Howden. It is the second year we have bought in partnership with our friends Qatar Racing and we have secured some quality colts at elite sales across Europe and the United States. Hopefully, as a group, they can deliver on expectations.”

China Horse Club and Qatar Racing also bought in partnership this year to race colts in the United States.
