Ming Zhi Cosmos continued a wonderful month of results for the China Horse Club when saluting in the Prix Etalon Silver Frost (1400m) at only her second career start at Clairefontaine, France last night.
The success of the Nicolas Clement trained two-year-old follows quickly on the heels of Tropaios’ fast finishing third in the G1 Singapore Derby and Tabreed’s explosive win in the United States. It also ensures that each of the four international stables of the CHC has tasted success in 2013.Tabreed will have her chance to further the stables’ good form at Saratoga this Wednesday.
Ming Zhi Cosmos, a member of the CHC’s Cosmos Syndicate, showed good early speed to dictate the race under the guidance of Thierry Thulliez. The hoop had the bay comfortably in hand as she turned into the straight before slipping clear inside the final 200m and holding off a late challenge to win by a length.
“With the Australian blinkers (SheepSkin), the jockey felt she quickened well,” trainer Nicolas Clement said.”
“She won well, wire to wire. It was very nice to win under this silks and I was delighted as a trainer to offer China Horse Club their first win in France at Clairfontaine- Deauville.”
It was a promising performance for an individual who can attest to being a half-sister to the stakes winner Melodyman and the multiple stakes-placegetter Good Bye My Friend.
