The union between the China Horse Club and the Australian Turf Club is set to strengthen further with confirmation that the high-profile business, lifestyle and thoroughbred racing club will be sponsoring two races at 2018 The Championships in Sydney, Australia this April.
The $A200,000 G3 China Horse Club Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) will be one of nine group races that helps launch Day One of the festival, which runs over successive weekends, while the $A150,00 Listed China Horse Club Mile (1600m) will help shoulder expectations on Day 2 of what is arguably the world’s most significant new racing carnival.
“The relationship between the Australian Turf Club and China Horse Club is one that is highly rewarding. It has been built on mutual respect, support of high profile racing carnivals in China and Australia respectively and on a belief in the value of further strengthening ties between the industries of these respective countries,” said Eden Harrington, Vice President, China Horse Club.
“The China Horse Club is delighted to continue its association with the China Horse Club Carbine Club Stakes and to extend this relationship in 2018 to include the China Horse Club Mile, an event which is one of four notable stakes races for two-year-olds over The Championships.”
Assimilate
A quartet of runners is set to reinforce the China Horse Club’s involvement on Day One of the Championships. Assimilate, a last start winner of the Listed Canberra Guineas, will contest the China Horse Club Carbine Club Stakes, Bondi will take his place in the G1 $A1,000,000 Inglis Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) while Munich and Vendome will duel in the $A200,000 G3 Widden Kindergarten Stakes (1100m).
Bondi
Bondi will be bidding to carry on a run of success in the G1 Inglis Sires Produce Stakes with China Horse Club and partners having won two or the last three runners of the event. Pride of Dubai (2015) and Invader (2017) confirmed their status as commercial stallion prospects with their victories and Bondi will bid to overcome a wide draw and do likewise on Saturday.
“Competing in the biggest carnivals is never easy, the competition is fierce. But members have four runners who have been set for Saturday’s race day and they are all healthy and well,” said Michael Wallace, Head of Bloodstock and Racing, China Horse Club.
“As a partner of the Australian Turf Club we want to support their initiatives and great carnivals and one way we can contribute to making these carnivals even better is by racing our very best.”
