Dissident, a five time G1 winner and a flag bearer for the China Horse Club, was singled out as the HTBA Champion Horse of the Year, while Wandjina was crowned the HTBA Champion 3YO Colt having annexed the G1 VRC Australian Guineas and run second to Dissident in the G1 All-Aged Stakes.

The notable awards come after The China Horse Club secured an interest in Wandjina as a racing and stallion prospect. The striking colt will compete in the G1 Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot before retiring to stud at Newgate Farm alongside Dissident this spring. Both Dissident and Wandjina will be fully booked at their first season at Newgate Farm.

“These awards are recognition of the abilities of both Dissident and Wandjina and they are also recognition of our partner Newgate Farm who earmarked them both as quality racing and stallion prospects,” said Eden Harrington, General Manager for the China Horse Club.

“The journey we have had with our partners in Dissident has been very rewarding. Wandjina is preparing well for Royal Ascot and we look forward to seeing how he will fair at one fo the great carnivals of the world. But what has really impressed us is that both Dissident and Wandjina have been judged by the marketplace as being exceedingly exciting stallion prospects. People have voted with their wallets and they are booked solid. That is a fantastic result and one that our members appreciate.”

Dissident, a leading contender for the Australian Horse of the Year Awards, will stand his first season at stud at $A38,500 (RMB 190,000). Wandjina’s fee has been set temporarily at $A33,000 (RMB 165,000) but that figure will rise further should he win the G1 Golden Jubilee Stakes in his final start.
