Dissident, winner of the BMW Australian Racehorse & Inglis Bloodstock Champion Sprinter of the Year
A year of excellence scaled another peak overnight when members of the China Horse Club shared in the success of star racehorse and now stallion, Dissident, being crowned the BMW Australian Racehorse of the Year.
The champion sprint-miler and high profile first season sire was the star at Australian racing’s night of nights and headlined a list of achievements which was testament to the judgement of the club’s members. In all, members enjoyed the following achievements last night:

Vancouver: Winner of Champion Two Year Old of the Year Award
Pride of Dubai: Nominees for Champion Two Year Old of the Year Award

First Seal: Nominee for New Zealand Bloodstock Champion Three Year Old Filly of the Year Award
Dissident: Nominee for Racing.com Champion Middle Distance Racehorse of the Year Award
Last night’s awards and nominations come only months after Dissident secured the Victorian Horse of the Year Award and star filly First Seal was honoured as the NSW Racehorse of the Year, NSW Three Year Old of the Year and Queen of the Autumn.

“China Horse Club and its members are pleased to partner with Newgate Farm, its partners and all the owners in Dissident to witness this important recognition of Dissident as Australian Racehorse of the Year,” said Teo Ah Khing, Chairman of the China Horse Club.
“I am particularly proud of our team who have worked tirelessly to identify opportunities for our members. We shall continue to source new and exclusive stallion opportunities to build up a stallion fund as an alternative investment arm to any portfolio our members currently have.

Vancouver, winner of Champion Two Year Old of the Year
The China Horse Club secured an interest in Dissident alongside Newgate Farm last year having earmarked him as a stallion prospect. Earlier this year the opportunity to secure an interest in exceptional talents Vancouver, Pride of Dubai and Press Statement for members also arose. Press Statement has gone on to win the G2 Stan Fox Stakes and is a leading chance in tomorrow’s RMB4,600,000 (AUD1,000,000) G1 Caulfield Guineas. Pride of Dubai has subsequently won the RMB4,600,000 (AUD1,000,000) G1 Inglis ATC Sires Produce Stakes. Both have enhanced their value through these performances and can continue to do so over the ensuing 12 months.
