Christmas came early for the China Horse Club this year, with club members celebrating the 40th and 41st wins for the year by the club over successive days. Scarlet Moretta and Royal Oasis both saluted in Australia lifting the total tally of wins by members since CHC began racing in April 2013 to 60.
“Royal Oasis’debut win confirms her level of ability and augurs well for her next race which may see her tested in city company. This is only her third start and with natural improvement she can hopefully build on this performance,”said Eden Harrington, General Manager of China Horse Club.
“Scarlet Moretta was the first winner for the club and while she has gone close to winning on a few occasions, she hasn’t reached the heights we hoped she may have yet. To see her win and win comfortably again is fantastic and a reward for the patience of her owners. Hopefully she can go on with it now that she has broken through again.”

Scarlet Moretta changed stables in a bid to reinvigorate her career and the change of environment to trainer Philip Stokes’stable may have played a role in her determined win at Morphettville (Australia). The four-year-old mare was always travelling well for jockey Blake Shinn in the Adelaide Casino Handicap (1540m) and when asked for her maximum effort in the straight she put paid to her rivals in a matter of strides to race away and score by two lengths.
Royal Oasis kept celebrations bubbling along 24 hours later when posting a slick win at what was only her third career start. The Lee and Anthony Freedman trained filly has been held in good regard since joining the stable and franked that assessment when returning to racing as a three-year-old earlier this month. With that run under her belt, Royal Oasis looked a leading contender in the Tw Plastering Maiden Plate (1300m) and that assessment looked well placed as jockey Daniel Moor let her loose in the home straight and she went on to win by half a length.
