Star colt Press Statement is expected to sign off on his Australian racing career this weekend in Sydney in the $A600,000 G1 All-Aged Stakes, a feature won 12 months ago by former China Horse Club hero and reigning Australian Horse of the Year Dissident.

Major breeders from Australia are already awaiting Press Statement’s next role as a commercial stallion and trainer Chris Waller is working to ensure the gifted colt retires on a winning note. The six time winner of more than $A1.8 million (RMB9 million) has already won a G1 as a two-year-old and annexed the showpiece G1 Caulfield Guineas last spring as a three-year-old and stamping himself as a nation’s premier three-year-old miler in the process.

“Press Statement has been a wonderful servant for members of the China Horse Club and hopefully we can continue our relationship with the G1 All-Aged Stakes which was so enjoyable in 2015 with Dissident,” said Michael Wallace, Head of Racing and Breeding for the China Horse Club.

“We secured an interest in Press Statement 12 months ago because we felt he could be both a wonderful racehorse for the club and also a fruitful investment opportunity and it has turned out that way. Since then Press Statement has more than lived up to expectation. He is now undoubtedly Australia’s best three-year-old miler and success this weekend would be a very strong argument that he is the best three-year-old in the country over any distance. For our members who have an interest in him he has been most rewarding and will continue to be once he retires to stud at Vinery Australia this spring.”

Press Statement has only once finished outside the first three placings and last start was exceptional when placed behind wonder mare Winx who is rated as arguably the best mare in the world when third in the G1 China Horse Club George Ryder Stakes.
