Crisolles wins at the New York’s Belmont circuit
Crisolles may target stakes races before the year is out after making a successful transition to racing in the United States when posting a comfortable win at New York’s Belmont circuit. In posting her first win in her new base, the former French based mare became the third individual winner for the China Horse Club from only a handful of starters.
Crisolles has been patiently handled by trainer Christophe Clement who had previously overseen the successful careers of Parranda and Tabreed for China Horse Club members. Under Clements watch Parranda posted a comfortable win in the G3 Marshua’s River Stakes in Florida before taking out the $S3.05 million G1 CECF Singapore in February while Tabreed was graded stakes placed and a multiple winner.
The lightly raced Crisolles has a curriculum vitae that suggests she can build on Clements successful association with the club and bring greater success to members in North America.
“Crisolles was a G2 placed filly when she was purchased in France 12 months ago and she has been given plenty of time to find her feet,” said Eden Harrington, China Horse Club Vice President and Head (Partnerships/Membership).
“This win was an important step forward and shows that she has certainly adapted to the system Christophe has in place and it augurs well for what may be in store for her in 2016. Christophe has a wonderful record especially with mares with profiles like Crisolles so she is in the best of hands.
“We see Crisolles as an important part of our growing brand in the United States where we are increasing our involvement. We have raced Daredevil in partnership with WinStar Farm and Let’s Go Racing and he has recently been announced as retiring and going to stud at WinStar Farm which is exciting.
“We were naturally disappointed in the loss of the hugely talented Rock Falls which we had taken an interest in. He was shaping as a leading Breeders’ Cup Sprint contender and as a quality stallion prospect. In the last 12 months we have also selectively invested in quality broodmares and in yearlings so 2016 is shaping as a highly exciting and important one for us.”

Jockey Joel Rosario used the tactical speed of Crisolles to take the lead immediately after the jump and dictate terms to suit the mare. The bay was allowed to roll along at a comfortable gallop before holding off all challenges in the straight.
The Allowance Optional Claiming Race was the third start for Crisolles who has not missed a placing since transferring from France where she had won three of her nine starts and was runner up in the G2 Shadwell Prix de la Nonette and placed third in the G3 Prix Vanteaux.
