At the close of Australia’s most significant yearling sale, the China Horse Club was rewarded with quality sales results, a record Australian yearling sales season aggregate and the acquisition of 11 new highly exciting racing prospects.
The two days of trading at the 2021 Inglis Easter Yearling Sales delivered the China Horse Club the exceptional sales average of AUD373,000 for the five lots it sold. The sale also closed China Horse Club’s presence across major auctions in Australia where yearlings it is involved in traded for almost AUD6.5 million.
Russian Revolution
After a heady first sales season which included auction topping results, Russian Revolution, who China Horse Club remains a leading investor in, closed the nation’s premier yearling sale as the leading first season sire by aggregate and is credited with the second-highest priced lot for a first season sire.
“The Inglis Easter Yearling Sale is the final major yearling sale for 2021 across Australasia and it brings to a close what has been a strong season for the Club’s Australian breeding arm with a number of highlights,” said Michael Wallace, COO of the China Horse Club.
“A record aggregate for yearling sales demonstrates the quality across the board of our bespoke breeding operation while a record high price for us at the Magic Millions with the Capitalist x Golconda colt (AUD975,000), who we bred in partnership with SF Bloodstock and Blake Sandblom Pty Ltd, highlights our ability to breed elite stock.

“We came to Easter this year believing in our draft once again and are delighted it has sold so consistently and so solidly. Three of seven lots offered sold for above AUD400,000 and our graduates will walk into some of the most successful stables in the country including Hawkes Racing, Peter Moody, and Lloyd Kennewell.”

It was also a positive sale for China Horse Club’s future racing operations. The acquisition of eight colts with Newgate Farm and partners and a further three fillies in partnership with Michael and Richard Freedman.
“Among the yearlings, we secured last year from the Easter Yearling Sale was Tiger of Malay who was just touched out in the G3 Pago Pago Stakes and takes his place in Saturday’s G1 ATC Inglis Sires Produce Stakes,” Wallace added.
“Hopefully there are acquisitions this year that can go to replicate Tiger of Malay who is an exciting prospect by an exceptional young sire in Extreme Choice.”
