It was a satisfying day at Wuhan on 27 June 2015, with Endzone and Hales closing out the season racing with 2 wins. Under extremely warm conditions, the horses and jockeys applied themselves well enough to bag six trophies at the 2015 Wuhan Open Horse Racing and the CHC became the biggest winner of the day.

With 10 runners sent out for three events, it was an impressive feat to have garnered 2 wins, 3 second places and 1 third place for the day, which totalled CHC wins to 88. No one was happier than the CHC China-based trainer Quinton Cassidy.

“This is fantastic and I’m happy with the recoveries as well,” said Cassidy.

At the Yili Horse Festival Cup (1200m), Endzone, who was a late inclusion to the event, stamped himself a star despite having not raced since November 2014.

“After a good trial on Tuesday he needed to run as he was becoming too fresh. Jockey Liu San Ping let him enjoy the first half of the race under his own steam before he took control of the race and sealed the win. This great run puts him in good prep for when he heads north,” said Cassidy.

In addition, Hales recorded a commendable performance and presented a long awaited win in impressive fashion at the fifth race of the day, the Eastern Equine Industry Cup (1800m). Cassidy is ecstatic.

“Drawn 13 of 14 with the big weight, the plan was to go forward and position himself in the first three. After 300m from starting, Jockey Qin Yong made the decision to lead after feeling the pace was too slow. From then on he controlled the race to suit and was far too good through to the finish. He will gain great confidence from that win.”

Commengy came in second after Endzone and Stardust after Hales, showcasing the club horses’ undoubted ability and auguring well for the next races.

“I am definitely looking forward to the year ahead starting at Xilinhaote on July 25,” said Cassidy.
