CHC bred Essential Quality x Summer Solo colt is the highest priced yearling by his first season sire
A striking colt by first season sire Essential Quality has set the tone for the China Horse Club’s Northern Hemisphere yearling auction sales season when realizing USD510,000 at the 2024 Saratoga Sale (USA).
The grey or roan colt was the highest priced of five Essential Quality yearlings at the end of trading, showing a strong return on the purchase price (USD400,000) of his dam Summer Solo at the 2022 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
Fasig Tipton’s Saratoga Sale kicks off a run of premium yearling auctions with the Arqana August Sale, Keeneland September Sale, Goffs Orby Sale and Tattersalls October Yearling Sale collectively holding the attention of the thoroughbred racing world for the next two months.
“The Essential Quality colt has always been a quality individual. Our Americas Representative Christie DeBernardis has been glowing in her assessment of him since the day he was born and this result is testament to that,” said Eden Harrington, China Horse Club’s Vice President.
“China Horse Club will have quality drafts being presented at major auctions across Europe and of course we have some outstanding prospects heading to Keeneland next month headlined by a Quality Road filly out of G1 winner Embellish The Lace and a Curlin colt out of a stakes placed half-sister to our former champion Abel Tasman. This colt is also a half to a Tiz The Law filly who rocked the OBS Sales ring earlier this year when trading for USD1.9 million.”
Summer Solo is currently in foal to the exceptional young sire Not This Time.
