A striking full-sister to the graded stakes winner Girl Daddy has set a marker for fellow China Horse Club bred yearlings in the United States in 2022 when enthusiastic bidding carried her to a USD625,000 sales price at Fasig Tipton’s Saratoga Sale overnight.

The gray or roan filly is the first of the Club’s 2021 born yearlings to sell this season and is a member of what has internally been considered as arguably the best contingent of yearlings the Club’s USA division has produced to date.

The Taylor Made Sales consigned filly was the highest priced filly by the star Coolmore based stallion and one of a number of elite fillies chased on the second of the two-day sale.

The Uncle Mo x Cara Marie filly is:

  • One of 18 yearlings listed for sale in 2022
  • One of five full or half-siblings to stakes winners including half-relations to Kimari (G1), Classic Empire (G1), Valiance (G1), March To The Arch (G2) and Girl Daddy (G3)
  • One of nine yearlings out of G1 winning or stakes winning dams.

The sale of the Uncle Mo x Cara Marie filly holds early similarities to that of another gray or roan filly five years earlier. The filly, on that occasion, was knocked down for USD650,000. She was named Valiance and incrementally built a career that culminated in success in the 2020 G1 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes, a second in the 2020 G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff Stakes and a sale at USD3,000,000 at the 2021 Fasig Tipton Fall Mixed Sale.

“The Uncle Mo x Cara Marie is a lovely filly. She has been from the very first day she arrived,” said China Horse Club’s Mike Smith.

“We wish her new owners Taylor Creek every success with her and certainly hope she has some of the ability that Girl Daddy showed in her short career. If she does, she will provide everyone involved with her a great deal of excitement.”
