Just days after winning its maiden award for the success of its breeding operation, China Horse Club has franked the international success of this arm of its business with a graded stake winning double. Graduates of its USA and Australian breeding operations continued a run of success for the Club bolstering their records within 24 hours of each other.

Girl Daddy, a 2019 USD500,000 Keeneland September yearling, maintained her undefeated record with an explosive win in the USD200,000 G3 Pocahontas Stakes at Churchill Downs (USA) and will now zero in on the USD2,000,000 G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies.

Before the cheering could subside, it was the turn of Dame Giselle to continue her accumulation of group race wins. On this occasion the crack filly settled mid-pack before running over the top of her rivals to net the AUD200,000 Darley Furious Stakes at Royal Randwick (Australia). The triumph was her third at G2 level and carried her career prize money over the AUD1 million mark.

“[Dame Giselle] has done it twice now, three-deep with no cover and got away with a victory,” said co-trainer Paul Snowden.

“She’s a special filly. We think [Dame Giselle] is going to excel at 1400m, just getting a little bit more of a sit in her races midrace and she’s still got that devastating turn of foot which you saw today.”

Dame Giselle is raced in partnership with Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock Australia and was one of three winners for the Club over the weekend. The G2 Furious Stakes win interspersed the successes of Grand Bouquet and Ancient Times. Grand Bouquet posted her fifth career win in the Saville Row Handicap (2100) at Hastings in New Zealand, while Ancient Times was making a winning debut at Saratoga (USA).

“It has been another satisfying weekend for the Club across major markets,” said Michael Wallace, Chief Operating Officer of China Horse Club.

“We have invested heavily in recent years to create a world class breeding operation and to have our graduates deliver on feature race days is rewarding. Girl Daddy and Dame Giselle are two exciting fillies.

“Girl Daddy was impressive in winning on the Kentucky Oaks undercard and now looks a live contender on Breeders’ Cup Day. Dame Giselle spelled really well at The Chase, our property in Australia, and has returned with back-to-back wins. She will continue on the Darley Princess Series and take her place in the AUD200,000 G2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) in two weeks’ time.”
