Boom colt Han Wei will spearhead a powerful stable of six runners at China’s richest race day in 2024 for leading operation Inner Mongolia Yitai Desert Star Horse Industries (YTDS) who supplied the first and third placegetters in last year’s China Horse Owners Alliance Derby.
Han Wei, a five-time winner from only six race starts, was bred and is owned by YTDS and has been a revelation this season and rightly shapes as a lead hand in the RMB3,000,000 (USD423,000) CHOA Breeders’ Cup.
Han Wei has been a revelation for YTDS in 2024
The juvenile is one of four runners for YTDS by its former champion racehorse and star sire North Dakota whose progeny Tianjiao Princess (1st) and North Wolf (3rd) dominated last year’s Derby. North Dakota claimed China’s ‘Triple Crown’ of staying contests when annexing the 10th National Traditional Games for Ethnic Minorities of the People’s Republic of China (3000m), G2 CHIA Xilinhaote Cup (2000m) and CEA National Tour Final 2014 无限定 (3000m) in 2014/2015. The club’s additional two runners are by Daredevil and Vinson Massif respectively.
“Han Wei is a very exciting racehorse and he is one of two runners for YTDS in the CHOA Breeders’ Cup. The other is Da Mo Fei Long who, from four starts, has won twice and been placed twice for earnings above RMB200,000,” said the club’s spokesperson Ms. Gan Weiwei.
“We also have Da Mo Ji Tu in the RMB600,000 CHOA Chairman Stakes. She is a sister to North Wolf who was very impressive last season.
“And we also have three chances in the RMB1,200,000 CHOA Cup. All six performers have come through our breeding programme in China which was established with the support of China Horse Club.”
YTDS Vice Chairman, Mr Zhang Dong Hai, and Chairman, Mr Teo Ah Khing
YTDS, which is chaired and vice-chaired by Teo Ah Khing and Zhang Dong Hai respectively, has been a strong supporter of the China Horse Owners Alliance (CHOA) since its inception. The concept was envisaged by Yuesheng Zhang whose passion and support for thoroughbred racing has been recognized worldwide with the success of his Yulong Investment. CHOA is a driving force in the enhancement of China’s thoroughbred industry.
