With a slick change of gears Heaven Has Eyes shook off her rivals to post a comfortable debut win and record the 39th victory for the China Horse Club in 2014. With crack performers such as First Seal preparing for the autumn of 2015 and the talented Olympic Anthem joining the CHC’s Singapore stable, the emergence in Australia of Heaven Has Eyes is encouraging over the summer racing season.
The regally bred filly was never in trouble in the Sign Effects Maiden Plate (1170m) at Wangaratta, Australia, jumping well and settling second throughout the sprint affair before sliding to the front half way down the straight and racing away to win by two and a quarter lengths.
“It is wonderful for our members to post another win and it is important for the career of Heaven Has Eyes to show what she is capable of,” said Eden Harrington, General Manager of China Horse Club.
“Heaven Has Eyes is from a high quality family and this win not only assists her race record but it will see her listed as a winner in a family brimming with stakes winners. Hopefully she can build further on this win.”
Heaven Has Eyes joins a list of winners in 2014 that includes four individual G1 wins. The honour roll is headed by the three time G1 winner Australia who is one of the most promising young stallions to retire to stud in Ireland in recent years. Star filly First Seal posted the four of the above listed G1 wins when dominating the time honoured Flight Stakes in October. And while Heaven Has Eyes is not expected to reach such lofty heights her role in carrying the club’s interests forward isn’t lost on her trainers.
Heaven Has Eyes is a new addition to the stable of Peter Morgan and Craig Widdison and was expertly handled by jockey Linda Meech. Morgan has a strong reputation of working with fillies and mares and his gentle handling of Heaven Has Eyes is a further demonstration of that.
