Jubilee Walk is one of three colts sourced in 2022 by CHC and Qatar Racing
Europe’s richest two-year-old race, the €1,000,000 Goffs Millions, looms as a likely target for the progressive Jubilee Walk after he broke his maiden with a performance of grit and purpose at Salisbury (UK) yesterday.
The colt is one of three yearlings sourced last year in partnership by China Horse Club and Qatar Racing and is the first to debut for the partnership. Previously, the duo raced Just The Judge and, upon her retirement, sold sale-topping progeny from her together. Both entities are also senior shareholders in champion Australian stallion Zoustar.
The emergence of Jubilee Walk under the guidance of trainer James Ferguson augurs well for the renewed partnership.
Yesterday’s Rumble Inthejungle Standing At Norman Court Stud British Ebf Novice Stakes was framed as an importance step in the development of the lightly raced colt who has shown some promise since first going under saddle.
“Jubilee Walk broke so well and Ceiran [jockey Ceiran Fallon] didn’t want to disappoint him so let him stride out and make the running,” said Matt Houldsworth, China Horse Club’s European Representative.
“Jubilee Walk seemed to enjoy this, and it actually let him settle as opposed to fighting for his head.
“He’s showed a lot of bravery and character to stick it out and win. It’s never easy making the running and he’ll come on again for the experience.”
Jubilee Walk was taken on in a sustained assault at Salisbury in the long run to the post. But shook off his inexperience and the exertions of setting the pace to fend off his rivals. A step up from six furlongs (1200m) to seven furlongs (1400m) is expected to suit him further and may be a likely stepping stone should Ferguson press towards the Goffs Millions.
