Let Her Inspire U has franked the weight assessments of her with a stakes race triumph before the close of her three-year-old season. The powerfully made filly never looked in danger, making the USD250,000 Empire Distaff Stakes (1700m) a one act affair at ‘Belmont at the Big A’ (USA).
The result was another triumph for the Todd Pletcher-Irad Ortiz Jr. union which will be bidding for further honours with a China Horse Club co-owned Life Is Good in Saturday’s USD6,000,000 G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland.
Let Her Inspire U’s maiden stakes win was the second leg of a weekend double delivered by the ladies, after the talented Providenceprovides saluted in the NZD40,000 Courtesy Ford Red Craze Bowl (1400m) at Awapuni, New Zealand.
Champion jockey Ortiz Jr. was highly positive in his post-race assessment of the progressive Let Her Inspire U who has now assembled a record in 2022 of five starts for four wins and a second.
“I got a beautiful break. I just sat in second outside and it was a very comfortable pace,” Ortiz Jr. said.
“At the three-eighths (600m) pole, I let her do her thing and she picked it up. When she made the lead, I kept letting her do her thing. I felt like I had a lot of horse turning for home and she just took off.”
Let Her Inspire U had two and a quarter length to spare over her nearest rival on the line and connections may well look to more significant assignments for her in late 2022/early 2023.
A return to stakes company is likely to beckon Providenceprovides after her tight but encouraging win. The Tony Pike trained five-year-old is already a multiple stakes placegetter and three time winner from only 14 racetrack appearances and is undoubtedly capable of delivering the hoped for black type if conditions are favourable.
“Providenceprovides traveled well and got to the front quite easily, once there she stalled a bit without her blinkers on and was waiting for the field but she fought on as soon as the second horse came up to her,” summarized Mike Smith, China Horse Club’s Australian Representative.
“Tony Pike reported she wouldn’t have blown out candle and has pulled up super. Tony has kept her in Palmerston North and will travel to Christchurch on Wednesday to train up to her for her next target which is either a G3 1400m fillies and mares race or a G2 mile.”
