The market appreciation for boom young sire Russian Revolution was further franked at the close of the 2022 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale. After two days of trading, the Newgate Farm based sire can lay claim to:
- Being the most represented stallion with results of AUD100,000 and above (4 sales) alongside proven sire Deep Field;
- A new highest priced weanling result (Russian Revolution x Crimson and Clover colt – AUD240,000);
Russian Revolution x Crimson and Clover colt sells for AUD240,000
The AUD240,000 sales result was realized for a China Horse Club bred, Sledmere Stud consigned colt and was the highest sales figure for a China Horse Club weanling sale since it sold a Kingman x Bethsaida filly for AUD260,000 in 2019.
“Russian Revolution has now had nine winners, he is the dominant sire among his generation across all parameters and most importantly he is among the premier sire of two-year-olds nationwide against all sires,” said Mike Smith, China Horse Club’s Australasian Representative.
“China Horse Club’s focus has traditionally been on realizing yearling sales results and it has been very rewarding to see results for our ‘Russians’ at AUD240,000 and AUD170,000. It augurs well for the future.”

In concert with positive weanling sales results, the Club’s racing arm has continued to enjoy a cycle of winners. Warrior Hero posted an effortless win in the AUD50,000 Pinatubo New @ Darley Handicap (1100m) in Sydney. That success is the third in four days following Right of Man’s slashing win in Victoria and State of Rest’s heroics in France’s premier G1 Prix Ganay on Sunday.
“Warrior Hero was excellent here as was Tommy Berry who immediately moved him into the lead to control this race,”
“When Tommy asked him, Warrior Hero quickly closed this race out and won very comfortably on the line for what was his first run back since January.
“Warrior Hero is a gelding, so he doesn’t fit within the traditional China Horse Club/Newgate Farm model, but he is clearly a progressive type as that win demonstrated. Whether he continues to play a long-term role in our syndicate, time will tell, but he looks like he is in for a good preparation.”
