Valiance

China Horse Club’s American breeding division stood tall at Fasig Tipton’s international night of nights when two of its graduates were among a galaxy of stars. No less than 26 horses changed hands for a million USD or more. Among them were China Horse Club homebred G1 winners Valiance and Kimari.

The striking white Valiance, who was also part-owned by China Horse Club, had been promoted by Fasig Tipton and her consider, Bluewater Sales LLC, as among the sales absolute glitterati and sold accordingly. Aggressive bidding quickly saw her price climb before the Japanese won out with a final bid of USD3,000,000.

Kimari, who sold earlier in the evening, will join the international broodmare band of Coolmore after M.V. Magnier won out with a bid of USD2,700,000.

The duo was among the first to be bred by the club’s US breeding operation with the dams purchased at the 2014 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. Valiance and Kimari were the first and second G1 winning homebreds for the division respectively and it was only fitting that their credentials were recognized by some of the international sports leading players.

“The demand for Valiance and Kimari from the international buying market was wonderful to see. It demonstrates that our programme is not only creating elite racetrack performers but individuals that also appeal to commercial markets near and far,” said Michael Wallace, COO of China Horse Club.

“Coupling these results with our recent yearling results, especially at Keeneland where we enjoyed a USD1.25 million result with an Into Mischief x Embellish The Lace filly, and there is every reason to be confident that we can build on these wonderful results.”

Valiance stamped herself as elite when claiming the G1 Spinster Stakes before a game second in the 2020 Breeders’ Cup Distaff. Her triumph carried on a legacy of G1 success enjoyed by her dam, Last Full Measure, and her granddam, Lazy Slusan.

Kimari secured a deserved G1 in the Madison Stakes earlier this year but carved her reputation at Royal Ascot as a two and then three-year-old with runner-up efforts in the G2 Queen Mary Stakes and G1 Commonwealth Cup.
