Dual G1 winner Pride of Dubai has returned to the stable of trainers Peter and Paul Snowden as more powerful and imposing individual and is starting to take the first steps towards a preparation that may see him contest some of Australia’s premier sprint-mile contests.
The 2014/15 NSW Champion Two-Year-Old of the Year has always been a hulking individual but appears to have filled into his frame even further. The video footage seen here of Pride of Dubai walking around the Snowdens’ yard at Randwick Racecourse is the first public viewing of the colt seen his exceptional win in the $1 million (RMB4.5 million) Inglis Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) in April.
Pride of Dubai
“Pride of Dubai looks in exceptional order. He is a very athletic horse naturally and that is one of the reasons he won two G1s in his first preparation and has excited so many people so quickly,” said Michael Wallace, Head of Bloodstock and Racing, for the China Horse Club.
“The bone bruising that saw him miss the spring carnival appears to have dissipated, according to the vets, and he can begin pre-training ahead of moving into full work. He is receiving the best of care and is in great hands and hopefully we can see him make a return to racing in 2016. He is one of the most exciting horses the China Horse Club is involved with.”
Pride of Dubai stamped himself as an elite performer when overcoming significant obstacles to win the $1 million (RMB4.5 million) G1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m), the premier two-year-old race held in Melbourne every year. The relentless will to win that was on display that day was replicated five weeks later when the powerful colt snared his second ‘major’ in the G1 Inglis Sires Produce Stakes.

Never comfortable on the sloppy surface, Pride of Dubai fought back after being headed in the straight to score what had looked an improbable win. It was enough for champion jockey Hugh Bowman to single the juvenile out as one of the most exciting racehorses he has ever partnered.
The return of Pride of Dubai will hopefully see three of the China Horse Club’s elite three-year-old stars racing throughout the autumn carnivals in Sydney and Melbourne. Pride of Dubai, Golden Slipper winner and last season’s Australia Two-year-Old of the Year Vancouver and G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Press Statement are among the most exciting thoroughbreds in Australia at present. The trio is regarded as the most commercial stallion prospects in the nation and, if injury does not intervene, are expected to build on their already imposing curriculum vitaes.
