Two of world racing’s most notable owners have renewed a partnership that has seen them race together on the world stage and sell sale toppers after Qatar Racing and China Horse Club jointly purchased a colt on the opening day of trading at the 2022 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale.

“At recent auctions Qatar Racing and China Horse Club have opened discussions about the possibility of doing something together again and it is fantastic that we have found a colt that really appeals to both of our operations,” said Matt Houldsworth, China Horse Club’s European Representative.

“We have always held Sheikh Fahad Al Thani, David Redvers and the team at Qatar Racing in the highest of esteem. We competed at the Dubai World Cup with Just The Judge and jointly bred and sold some progeny from her very well. We also share in the exceptional Zoustar who Qatar Racing raced and continues to enjoy so much success with.

“In recent years both operations have independently achieved some wonderful successes in different parts of the world and hopefully we can enjoy some wonderful results together again with this colt.”

Lot 163 – Acclamation (GB) x Ramone (IRE)

Qatar Racing and China Horse Club were taken by an imposing colt by champion sire Acclamation out of G3 winning mare Ramone. Like many of the Acclamation stock, he appealed to both inspection teams independently with his profile as a masculine, athletic type that could come to hand quickly. The colt was purchased for €190,000.

Judge The Judge raced with aplomb at the 2015 Dubai World Cup, running a brave sixth in the USD5 million Dubai Sheema Classic for Qatar Racing and China Horse Club. Upon her retirement, her stock was highly sought after.

In 2018, the partners realized two exceptional results. Her Dubawi yearling colt topped the 2018 Arqana August Yearling Sale when knocked down to Ballylinch Stud for €1,400,000. A few months later, a weanling full-sister was chased with determination by Godolphin when topping the 2018 Arqana Breeding Stock Sale at €1,000,000. The filly, named Nash Nasha, would go on to win the 2021 Listed Grosser Preis der Privatbank in Germany.

During this period Sheikh Fahad and Redvers were guests of China Horse Club at the 2015 CECF Wuhan, China’s premier lifestyle, business and thoroughbred racing event.
