Quietly Arrogant will bid to become the second major juvenile winner this season for his syndicate when he takes his place in Saturday’s AUD3,000,000 Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast.

The upwardly mobile colt won his way into the juvenile feature with an impressive win in Saturday’s AUD150,000 AQIS Gold Nugget (1100m) and is a deserving player in what is shaping as an open Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Should he parlay that performance into this Saturday’s contest, it will be the second notable highlight from the current crop of juvenile colt that runs for China Horse Club / Newgate Farm / Go Bloodstock / Trilogy Bloodstock et al, carrying on a momentum created when North England landed the AUD1,000,000 G3 Inglis Golden Gift in November.

“Quietly Arrogant is still learning, but this was a big step forward,” trainer Peter Snowden said immediately after the Gold Nugget win.

“Blake [Shinn] rode him perfectly, letting him find his rhythm before producing him at the right time. He’s got talent, and this sets him up nicely for the Magic Millions.”

Snowden and Shinn combined in 2016 to win the Magic Millions with Quietly Arrogant’s sire Capitalist. And while Quietly Arrogant is his own man, the improvement he has continued to make with each start positions him to be a contender to replicate one of his father’s achievements.

“When Midnight Spirit missed the start it threw a spanner in the works but our plan was to always ride him conservatively an ensure that he relaxes well to finish the race off and he did that nicely,” Shinn said.

“[Quietly Arrogant] rounded the race off really well. He had that race won at the 300m and won with good authority.”
