More than 15,000 turned up to see some of the China Horse Club’s potential 2017 stars at the seasonal launch of the Ordos Yiqi racing season on Saturday. Locals flooded into the iconic racecourse in their thousands under brilliant blue skies, with many having enjoyed the inaugural CECF festival held at the venue in 2016. And they were treated with entertaining racing and rousing entertainment.
“The response to the launch of our racing season has been very positive. It augurs well for the year ahead, said Jason Zhu, CEO of the Inner Mongolia Yitai Desert Star Horse Industries who manage the facility.
“The people of Ordos have a clear appreciation for the horse and enjoy the social atmosphere that is being created.
“We have some exciting plans for 2017 and beyond. The unwavering support of local government allows us to be expansive in our plans. Ordos Yiqi Racecourse is the best racing facility in China and we intend to not only hold the best racing here but to create an engaging experience for the public, for VIPs and for the millions that will watch our events live from all across China throughout the year.”
The crowning jewel of the 2017 racing season St Ordos Yiqi Racing will once again be the CECF Ordos, an occasion that has quickly built a reputation as a platform for exciting racing and as a melting pot that draws local and international leaders of business and of the horse racing industry. Since its inception in 2013 the CECF has been supported by heads of state, royalty, movie stars, high profile business leaders, champion jockeys and trainers and future racing stars.
“The CECF has continued to grow its presence every year and 2017 will be no different. The goal of hosting an event of international standing remains and at Ordos Yiqi Racecourse we believe we can create a race day that is unique to China and to racing as a whole,” Zhu continued.
“Saturday’s Ordos Gold Cup race meeting has created some great momentum and we will build upon this with the Tourism Culture Cup race day on 22nd July. By the time the CECF arrives there will be some wonderful excitement about what will be a great occasion.”
