Russian Revolution
Russian Revolution is elevating himself into the elite tier of Australia’s stallion rankings by closing the season as Australia’s Champion Second Season Sire by Prizemoney, Winners and Stakes Winners.
The former China Horse Club colour bearer’s trio of achievements surpassed the high watermarks of Zoustar (2018/2019) and Pierro (2017/18) in their respective year when they also backed up their titles as Champion First Season Sires with honours in their second season as well.
Russian Revolution’s exploits were supported by exceptional seasons for fellow China Horse Club sire interests including:
- Zoustar: AUD16.4 million in prizemoney and eight stakes winner this season
- Extreme Choice: from 57 runners his progeny included two G1 winners, four additional stakes winners and five stakes placegetters including multiple G1 placed Don Corleone
“The trajectory of Russian Revolution positions him as a very important stallion in Australia and hopefully he can stay healthy so that we can see just how impactive his progeny may be over the next decade,” said Eden Harrington, China Horse Club’s Vice President.
“The versatility he is showing at such an early stage undoubtedly positioned him as the heir apparent to his own sire Snitzel. Not only was Russian Revolution able to sire the G1 Randwick Guineas winner Communist, among his seven stakes winners this season, he was also the equal second-best stallion by two-year-old winners alongside I Am Invincible and Better Than Ready.
Communist
“This after a maiden season where he joined I Am Invincible and Northern Meteor as only the third sire in the last decade to win the First Season Sires title by both prizemoney and winners.”
Russian Revolution was among the first stallions in Australia to be fully booked for the upcoming breeding season. His oldest progeny is just turning four and there is ever reason to believe they will continue to develop as he did when parlaying his the G1 Galaxy win from his classic season in the G1 Oakleigh Plate and G2 McEwen Stakes.
The super sire’s reputation will be carried into the spring by the above-mentioned China Horse Club bred Communist, who may resume in the G1 Winx Stakes, and fellow China Horse Club bred Revolutionary Miss (multiple G2 winner and G1 placegetter). The two four-year-olds will not be the only ‘Russians’ zeroing in features this spring with a phalanx of three-year-olds, including the wildly exciting stakes winners Libertad and Red Resistance, expected to target the nation’s leading three-year-olds events.
