20210216-front-sainthood

The positively named Sainthood arrested his debut second with a performance of true grit, wrestling back the lead in his USD60,000 Maiden Special Weight to score in the final stride. The performance at Fair Grounds over the weekend will allow champion trainer Todd Pletcher to keep moving forward in his planning for the colt.

“It was a close race, a tough race. Sainthood was very game and gritty,” said Michael Wallace, Chief Operating Officer of the China Horse Club.

“That was only his second career start. He has made a good progression from his first start to his second and he will have learnt a lot from that race. He was tested at the top of the straight. He was headed and passed by about half a length and then really knuckled down to get up right on the line. It is always encouraging to see a horse do that, whatever the level of the race.”

Sainthood is owned in partnership by China Horse Club and WinStar Farm, a partnership that has consistently and relentlessly enjoyed success season after season. The emergence of Sainthood strengthens the partnerships three-year-old arsenal that includes current headline acts Life is Good and Prime Factor.

Sainthood is from the first crop of runners from the Taylor Made Farm based Mshawish, a talented, sound and adaptable individual who demonstrated his versatility and capabilities over a range of distances and surfaces in a career from two to six.

The colt is the first winner for the stakes placed Lemon Hero, a daughter of the multiple stakes winner Bright Gold who has also produced the stakes winner Satin Gold.
