She was coined a supermodel before she went for sale, set the hearts of Europe’s biggest buyers racing and then lit up the auction ring alight at Ireland’s premier yearling sale. The Frankel x Alexander Goldrun filly that joined the China Horse Club’s operation in October of this year is now poised to join the stable of champion Irish trainer Jim Bolger who has been selected to shape her future racing career.

Bolger has guided the careers of countless stakes winners from his Coolcullen base in County Kilkenny including recent champions New Approach Dawn Approach and this year’s Irish 1000 Guineas winner Pleascach.

“Jim Bolger trained this filly’s dam Alexander Goldrun with great success. Under his care, Alexander Goldrun won G1 races in Ireland and France and then stamped herself as world class when taking out the G1 Hong Kong Cup,” said Michael Wallace, Head of the China Horse Club’s Breeding and Racing.

“This filly has had a high profile from the moment she was born. She is an absolutely glamorous individual, wonderfully athletic and has a real presence about her. When we saw her we were told she was a ‘supermodel’ and the title is well placed.

“Jim has handled many high profile horses like her before and has a long record of successfully shaping talented performers into G1 winners.”

The Frankel x Alexander Goldrun filly was shortlisted by the world’s biggest buyers when she went to auction in October. The interest in her was not surprising. As the only daughter to date of a champion race mare by a stallion regarded as arguably the greatest racehorse of all time, she is very much a unique individual.

“The only way you can put it into human terms is a supermodel and an athlete rolled into one,” said Henry Beeby, CEO of the auction house Goffs, at the time.

“When bidding went over a million [euros], there were five different bidders. That demonstrates her broad appeal.”

The filly is currently being broken in and the reports are encouraging. The bay filly seems sensible and is answering every question put to her.

“It is early days and you cannot get too carried away with the feedback but, that said, the reports are encouraging and that is important,” Wallace added.

“This is the first step in her journey. I know Jim wants to bring her into his racing system as soon as he can, he has had success doing that, and we will work to ensure she has every chance to be the horse we believe she can be.”
