As the second book of Britain’s premier yearling sale comes to a close China Horse Club can take great pride from the achievements realized from its boutique European breeding arm. Against the powerhouses of European breeding, it has held its own realizing a series of key achievements including:

o   Breeding the highest priced yearling by Australia (450,000 guineas)

o   Breeding the Highest priced Justify yearling (450,000 guineas)

o   Breeding the highest priced New Bay yearling (260,000 guineas)

o   Breeding the highest priced yearling sold by Baroda Stud

o   Breeding the highest priced yearling sold by Ballylinch Stud

“It has been a wonderful series of results by China Horse Club’s European division. The results realized over the last week have been borne from extensive and well-planned investment over several seasons and continue the club’s record of selling quality stock at the top end,” said Matt Holdsworth, China Horse Club’s European representative.

“Having CHC homebred Saffron Beach win the G1 Sun Chariot Stakes on the eve of book one was a blessing. It reminded the market of the club’s growing record as a breeder of elite stock. However, the sale of the Australia x Falling Petals filly (Lot 15) for Guineas 450,000 was not a one off. The results collectively from the yearlings we have brought to market have been strong.”

China Horse Club’s European breeding arm doesn’t enjoy the scale of its U.S. or Australasian peers. However, it has demonstrated its ability to deliver sales topping results in recent seasons across Britain, Ireland and France. The results at Tattersalls continue strong results throughout 2021 that include:

USA:

o   USD1,250,000 Into Mischief x Embellish The Lace filly – 2nd most expensive filly of the entire sale

              o   USD625,000 Justify x Sambuca Classica colt

o   USD500,000 Quality Road x Cara Marie colt

o   USD425,000 Uncle Mo x Sassy Siena colt

Australia:

o   Total sales of almost AUD7,500,000 for yearlings it shared an ownership in

o   AUD457,625 average for eight yearlings at Inglis Easter Yearling Sale it shared an ownership in

o   AUD1,050,000 I Am Invincible x Listen Here colt (with Cressfield Stud)

o   AUD975,000 Capitalist x Golconda colt (with SF Bloodstock and Blake Sandblom Pty Ltd)

Planning for upcoming years for the European arm of China Horse Club continues to this day. The rise and rise of sires Siyouni and New Bay in particularly are important to this future planning. The duo is among the stallion portfolio of China Horse Club as is the above-mentioned Australia, Le Havre and Dark Angel.
