The China Horse Club’s The Chase has welcomed its first ever foal and the new arrival couldn’t be more noteworthy. The stunning bay filly is the first foal of the exceptional Dame Giselle who won four G2 events, swept through the ATC’s Princess Series and banked almost AUD1.4 million in earnings for close partners and friends Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock and China Horse Club.
The powerhouse partners co-bred the Exceed and Excel x Dame Giselle filly who will naturally carry a weight of expectation that is part and parcel with a pedigree as significant as hers.

“The Chase will play an essential role in the China Horse Club’s future plans in Australia. To anoint its first foaling season with a filly of the gravitas of Dame Giselle’s Exceed and Excel filly is highly appropriate,” said Mike Smith, China Horse Club’s Australian representative.
“We thank Sir Owen Glenn for his continued support and friendship and we are delighted to co-breed such an exquisite filly with him. Hoping she is the first of notable progeny for Dame Giselle who brought us so much joy during her racing career.”
Since her retirement, Dame Giselle has been established at The Chase to be a cornerstone of the China Horse Club’s Australian breeding division. She will carry on a legacy that her own dam, Bally Society, started when being added to the Club’s in 2017.

A pleasing reminder of the merits of China Horse Club’s Australian breeding division were tabled when the Club’s home-bred and co-owned Communist who secured his second successive win when saluting at Hawkesbury in the AUD40,000 Independent Liquor Group Class 1 Handicap (1300m) just days after Dame Giselle foaled down.
Communist is a son of the Club’s former colour bearer Russian Revolution. Australia’s reigning Champion First Season Sire has exploded out of the blocks in the new racing season with a trio of winners from only six runners in the first nine days of the new racing season.
