Snitzel x Dame Giselle filly
At the close of Australia’s premier yearling sale, The Chase has marked itself as one of only four vendors with a 100 percent clearance rate among those selling five lots or more.
The Southern Highlands based nursery, preparing and selling on behalf of China Horse Club, found new homes for all five of its yearlings with total sales grossing AUD2 million.
“Our draft was popular pre-sale and has realized results that are strong and which also continue building its reputation as both as a ‘seller’ and a vendor of elite stock,” said Mike Smith on behalf of The Chase and China Horse Club.
“It has been well documented that this year’s market has been challenging. To realize a 100 percent clearance rate and sell yearlings for up to AUD725,000 is an outcome we can rightly be proud of.”
Smith also paid credit to the purchasers who sourced all five of the yearlings offered by The Chase. Leading Western Australian trainer Neville Parnham had to withstand considerable pressure before taking home the draft’s leading light, a Snitzel x Dame Giselle filly for AUD725,000 on Day 2 of the auction.
Earlier on the second and final day of trading, a half-sister to stakes winner Depth of Character (Zoustar x Caricature filly) was secured by G1 winning trainer Matthew Smith and Randwick Bloodstock. While on the opening day, the team of Darby Racing / Bjorn Baker / Clarke Bloodstock returned to the source to secure the full-brother to their former star and now sire, Ozzmosis.
“Neville Parnham’s record is exceptional and he will give the Dame Giselle filly every chance to realize her potential,” Smith added.
“We have always rated her very highly and are excited to see how her career plays out. She was bred in partnership with Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock and we are very thankful for his continuing support and belief in the programme we are running.
Full-brother to G1 winner Ozzmosis (Zoustar x No More Tears colt
“Matthew [Smith] has demonstrated his qualities with all sorts of performers over many years now and his patient approach will really suit the Caricature filly. Brett Howard, who sourced her alongside Matthew, is among the very best judges in Australia, his work with Star Thoroughbreds is testament to that. His endorsement is very exciting.
“And our good friends at Darby Racing as well as Bjorn Baker and Jim Clarke are doing an exceptional job with this family. Ozzmosis obviously, having won the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, but also with Olufsen who was very impressive winning on debut. There is no better home for this colt.”
