CHC’S FIRST THOROUGHBREDS ARRIVED IN CHINA

In what is turning out to be the most anticipated event in The China Horse Club’s very young yet eventful and robust growth, the first flight of imported thoroughbreds has landed in Beijing ahead of the inaugural China Equine Cultural Festival.

Today, after a successful quarantine, flight KL897 arrived from Amsterdam carrying precious cargo. On board were 18 finely bred colts and fillies -the pioneer thoroughbreds of the China Equine Cultural Festival– that are destined to carry on their already successful careers in China.A second flight from Australia will arrive later this month.

These elite thoroughbreds have been raced by some of the world’s most exclusive stables and tasted success across Europe for the internationally acclaimed Coolmore, Harasd’Etreham, Ecurie La Boetie, and Gerard Augustin-Normand.

Planning for the arrival of these thoroughbreds began way back in 2012. The challenges to this trailblazing decision to ship in high quality thoroughbreds, including proven stakes winners, have been many. To date all have been overcome.

These thoroughbreds will quarantine in China before becoming stars at the China Equine Cultural Event Race Meeting – the richest non-betting race day in Mainland China. This two day cultural festival is being hosted by the Hohhot Sports Bureau and promoted by the City of Hohhot. Prior to this highly prestigious race meeting all will be sold to new owners at the CECF International Auction.

These thoroughbreds are some of the best bred individuals ever to come to China. Sons and daughters of champion stallions such as Galileo, Montjeu and Giant’s Causeway arrived with great anticipation. Joining them are winners at some of Europe’s premier racecourses in France, Ireland and Britain.
