“Last Full Measure’s daughter, Valiance, secures a valuable stakes win.”
Just 10 days after Kimari went within an eyelash of becoming the maiden stakes winner for the China Horse Club USA breeding programme, that title was claimed by Valiance overnight in the USD75,000 Open Mind Stakes (1700m) on turf at Monmouth Park, USA.
The striking grey filly maintained her unbeaten status when posting her third successive win and is expected to be considered for more challenging assignments in the second half of 2019.
“Todd said it was time to give her a shot and see where she’s at,” Todd Pletcher’s Monmouth Barn Manager Anthony Sciametta told the Paulick Report.
“I thought this was a competitive race with a good field. It’s a nice win. She keeps progressing, which is what you want to see. She’s a horse that tries.
“This race she went around horses instead of coming inside, so she’s learning as she gains experience. It’s probably too early to know how good she is. If she keeps going up the ladder and her numbers keep going up on the sheets, we’ll have to test her again.”
Valiance and Kimari are graduates from the maiden crop of yearlings bred and sold by the China Horse Club in the United States. Valiance is the third foal of G1 winning mare Last Full Measure. Last Full Measure was secured by CHC at the 2014 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
