A relentless refusal to give in has seen Wild Ruler become the sixth colt or entire and the 10th stakes winner in all from CHC’s racing stable to have franked their excellence with a high-profile win during the time-honored Sydney Autumn Carnival.

The strikingly handsome son of champion sire Snitzel dismissed the anomaly of his G1 Galaxy performance when sitting wide throughout and staving off the challenges of the best three-year-old sprinters Australia has to offer. His performance in the AUD1,000,000 G2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) was assessed post-race as a G1 performance against G1 winners and placegetter.

Wild Ruler’s triumph was the highlight of another exceptional weekend of results for China Horse Club which included a game 2nd for Fearless in the USD1,000,000 G2 Oaklawn Handicap and champion broodmare Listen Here securing her third stakes winner.

Wild Ruler joins an honour of China Horse Club performers to have triumphed at one of the world’s highest profile racing carnivals. His weekend success places him alongside fellow 2021 victor Stay Inside as well as G1 winners and subsequent stallions Russian Revolution, Invader, Pride of Dubai and Dissident.

And while the breeding barn at Newgate Farm awaits, there is still further racing planned for the lightly raced colt before his transition to stallion duties.

“It was a very brave win from Wild Ruler,” said Michael Wallace, COO of China Horse Club.

“He has many qualities similar to Russian Revolution. He has displayed exceptional natural speed early in his career but importantly continues to improve with time and that bodes well for his future racing programme over the next year.

“Wild Ruler has pulled up well and we are currently discussing the most suitable option for him. The G1 Doomben 10,000 and the G1 Goodwood Handicap are both viable targets for a colt of his stature.”

Fearless almost parlayed Wild Ruler’s success in a million-dollar event when accounting for all bar Silver State in the Oaklawn Handicap. The Todd Pletcher trainee was tackling the deeper track of Oaklawn for the first time and, after being contained against the rail from his inside draw, showed fight in the home straight when one of six contenders fanned across the track to pull clear for a clear second placing.

The lightly-raced five-year-old is racing in career-best form and gives every indication he can continue making his presence felt in the United States throughout the second half of 2021.

It remains to be seen how much more racing the Australian-based Zaniah has ahead of her. Less than a week after co-breeders China Horse Club and Cressfield Stakes secured AUD1,050,000 for her yearling half-sister, Zaniah became the third stakes winner for champion broodmare Listen Here with a blistering burst in the AUD125,000 Listed Ascot Handicap (1200m) in Brisbane.

Listen Here is currently in foal to I Am Invincible again.
