East of the Town of Vieux Fort, facing the Atlantic
are the Maria Major Islands. These two small islands
lay just off shore, facing the curved beach and the
lighthouse topped Cape Moule a Chique at the
southern most point on the Island of Saint Lucia.
Sharing the same accessibility to the International
airport and future Home Port facilities as Sites A
and C, visitors will be able to reach their destinations
within minutes of arriving on the Island. The
reclaimed development is planned in two phases,
both located just offshore nestled within the water
between the Maria Major islands and existing
curved shoreline beach of the mainland. Two “C”
shaped islands will open up to each other creating a
ring of land protecting a central bay from Atlantic
waves. The calm Caribbean blue waters of the new
bay will be lined by development and white sand
beaches. Between the two new islands close to the
existing shoreline a small island marina is planned.
Bridges will connect all three reclaimed islands with
one another and the mainland. Along the mainland
shore, the existing beach will be improved. Mid-rise
condominiums and hotels will be built along a portion
of the beach toward its southern stretch, while an
extension of Vieux Fort in the form of a small town
centre to service Site C will be built on the northern
stretch.
