OVERVIEW INTERNATIONAL RACES LOCAL RACE BEING A VIP

CECF Race Meeting21 Sep 2013MengJun Equestrian Club, Hohhot, Inner Mongolia The National Cup is the feature event on a week bursting with occasions. This feature is the flagship race of the CECF Race Meeting which in itself will be an occasion of pageantry, sophistication, refinement and entertainment. Consider being a contestant in the ‘Elegance Pageant’; enjoy live entertainment between races; visit the themed regions of the racecourse and, of course, be wowed by races contested by quality thoroughbreds.

1. Pengxin National Breeders Cup (1600m)

The CECF National Cup is the flagship event on a two day festival bursting with occasion. This quality race brings together performers from both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and provides owners with the chance to race for the richest prize in China. It is a race with immense prestige and will immediately elevate the winning horse and its owners to national prominence.

2. France Galop Gold Cup (2000m)

The CECF Gold Cup will be run over 2,000m the international measure of excellence for world class performers. The Dubai World Cup, Breeders’ Cup Classic, Champion Stakes and Prince of Wales Stakes are all run over this distance.

3. CHC National Sprint (1000m)

The race is the premier sprint event on the National Race Meeting, a five furlong race designed to highlight the excitement generated by quality sprinters. In the tradition of France’s Prix de l’Abbaye, Australia’s Lightning Stakes, and England’s King’s Stand Stakes. The race is one of the most highly anticipated events of the day with the fastest thoroughbreds brought together.

This showpiece occasion has attracted breeders, owners, jockeys, officials and leading figures from around the globe.

The CECF Race Meeting will be a celebration of thoroughbred racing in China with five star dining, entertainment and an ‘Elegance Contest’ for those present. A taste of the world’s finest thoroughbred racing will be brought to Mainland China.

4. Longines Mile (1600m)

CECF Mile will both be run over 1600m, one of the most gruelling challenges for thoroughbreds.The classic mile is celebrated in the world’s premier horse racing capitals - in Hong Kong International Mile, America’s Breeder’s Cup, Japan’s Yasuda Kinen, England’s Guineas, and Australia’s Doncaster Handicap.

The fastest Chinese based thoroughbreds will come together for four feature races over varying distances on the CECF Race Meeting. With record prize money on offer China’s fastest established runners will be drawn together at Mengjun. A minimum of RMB 100,000 is guaranteed for each of these races. This has seen record levels of interest being registered in these events and trials will be held to ensure only the fastest and best credentialed performers vie for riches and prestige. All four races will be conducted under international racing standards with random pre-race drug testing being conducted under the care of international veterinarians.

Two-year-old 1000m: Juvenile racing is admired the world over and China is no different. The nation’s most precocious sprinters will clash over 1000m at Mengjun with this speed duel crowning the nation’s fastest juvenile.

Three-year-old colts 1600m:The best of China’s three-year-old colts will clash over a mile in a manner not dissimilar to the 2000 Guineas in England and Ireland, the Pouled’Essai des Poulains in France or the Caulfield Guineas in Australia. The mile at Mengjun will see runners begin in the home straight and run a circuit of the track in what will be a test of both speed and stamina.

Four-year-olds and above 2000m: China’s most accomplished older performers will be tested over 2000m in a battle royal at Mengjun. The distance of 2000m has established itself as the modern test of a thoroughbred and it should be no different here. The field will begin at the bottom of the home straight, run down passed the crowd before sweeping away into the back straight and building towards the final push to glory.

Four-year-old and above 1000m:Speed and speed alone will determine the victor in what is expected to be a blisteringly quick display at Mengjun. With the best older sprinters having been pre-selected through a trial process this event will be a showpiece worth seeing.
